Modern sources of time telling are almost completely metric forms. ‘Circadia’ brings life and visual experience to time measurement through colour, pattern and movement. As each second passes, the screen fills more with overlapping coloured lines, resetting after each whole minute: the next hour is then represented through a colour change. The system was created in TouchDesigner and captures self-generating line-work patterns which automatically overlap, reset and change colour to reimagine time as a visual experience rather than a tool. ‘Circadia’ is the idea for an app which would house the system and make it accessible to everyone, with inspiration for the name coming from circadian rhythms.
